Thomas and Marten (Turbostaat) have been making music together since 2005, their project is called Ninamarie.
"Feuer in der Nachbarschaft" was released in 2013 and has not been available for about six years. The 12" is now being reissued in a small edition as a 180gr. LP with poster insert re-pressed.
"The Wedding Gift" and "Corpses to Cocktails" are among the slightly older treasures - "A great evening!" recalls Marten and Yes!, Survival can sound so good and haunting that you want to hang on. Right after that we land into "Süßafrika", an instrumental excursion and at one point a rather somber number. But then Thomas' flute teacher Mila Morgenstern came in good-humoredly with his flute into the game and doom became ethnic rock in a flash. Mila, beyond any musical doubt, may forgive us: flute on a punk rock label cost us some effort. But Ninamarie's sovereign "A must" allowed no hesitation. Finally, let's strip almost pixieesque earth rock with synthesizer, because "Der Ortsoberste" drives us downright before him, faster and faster, until we still quickly catch our breath in "33 Runden". Thanks to Masha Qrella, as charming as she accompanies the young man with her vocals through all the rounds. We feel reminded of Velvet Underground in the best way. By the way, Marten and Thomas played the drums four-handed without a foot machine.
And at the end we are left breathless. Simply breathlessness. "Der Fucking Kommandeur" tightens our throats; Marten himself calls it "a shaky piece of music, quasi a sea shanty." Yet it's precisely this straightforward sincerity in being
being irreconcilable with those who appeal to earlier consensus, where there has always been only dissent, makes this piece so oppressive and anything but shaky. There Ninamarie give themselves five minutes in the middle of the song, which quite stoically and laconically radiate the coldness in which inhuman people leave us. - Finale courageous. Minor-major leap. Tusch. End.
